Root carving artworks made in celebration of Hangzhou Asian Games

Xu Jie, a root carver in Xiangshan county, Ningbo created a set of sports-themed artworks in celebration of the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games.

The sailing, windsurfing and beach volleyball competitions will be held at the Xiangshan Asian Games Center and Banbianshan Beach Volleyball Center in Xiangshan county in September.

Xu spent half a year crafting figurines of sailing, windsurfing and beach volleyball athletes to celebrate the games.

The 40-year-old artisan has been practicing root carving for more than 20 years, and his artworks have won many national and provincial-level awards.
