A total of 46 entrepreneurs from Ningbo, Zhejiang province, have secured coveted positions on the Hurun Global Rich List 2024, as announced by the Hurun Research Institute on March 25.

The 13th edition of the annual list featured entrepreneurs with a personal fortune exceeding $1 billion from across the globe, with their wealth assessed based on data as of Jan 15.

Among the 46 accomplished businesspeople from Ningbo on the list, 12 witnessed an uptick in their wealth compared to the previous year, while another five maintained stability, and the remainder experienced a decrease.

With a personal fortune of 210 billion yuan ($29.09 billion), Ding Lei, founder and CEO of NetEase Inc, retained his position as the wealthiest individual in the city, coming in at 43rd place globally. Ding is followed by Peter Woo Kwong-ching, president of Wheelock & Co, with a wealth of 100 billion yuan (141st), and Shen Guojun, founder and chairman of China Yintai Holdings Co Ltd, with 62 billion yuan (287th).

Out of the 46 listed luminaries, 22 currently reside in Ningbo, positioning the city at 26th place globally in terms of the number of billionaires, outstripping even Dubai.

Luo Liguo, chairman of Hoshine Silicon Industry Co Ltd, Wu Jianshu, president of Ningbo Tuopu Group Co Ltd, and Ma Jianrong, president of Shenzhou International Group, secured the top three positions among the 22 entrepreneurs residing in Ningbo, with personal wealth reaching 48 billion yuan, 46 billion yuan, and 41.5 billion yuan, respectively.
