As the first batch of standardized test licenses for intelligent connected vehicles was issued in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, the first unmanned container trucks bearing Ningbo license plates have now graced the Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

These licensed unmanned container trucks boast an automation level of L4, representing highly autonomous driving capabilities that allow it to independently execute driving tasks in designated scenarios without human intervention.

During testing, the unmanned container trucks leverage a blend of high-precision mapping and various sensor technologies to autonomously chart routes and achieve pinpoint "centimeter-level" positioning accuracy.

The entry criteria for these unmanned container trucks are rigorous. Following preliminary scrutiny of 13 documents, three assessments by third-party entities endorsed by national or provincial authorities in vehicle-related sectors, and a collaborative review by Ningbo's transportation, public security, industry and information technology, and housing and construction departments, the trucks underwent tests in four operational settings and 20 hours of on-road trials before being officially licensed.
