The 2025 Maritime Silk Road Port Cooperation Forum opened in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, on May 27, bringing together representatives from global port cities under the theme of "Go Green, Go Intelligent".
Among them was Mohamed Idrissi, first deputy mayor of Marrakesh, Morocco's third-biggest city.
"We had no hesitation in attending," Idrissi stated, emphasizing Morocco's enthusiasm for strengthening its international partnerships.
With its deep-water ports on the Atlantic coast, Morocco sees Ningbo as a key partner for collaboration in port development, logistics and trade.
Reflecting on the Hello, Ningbo photography exhibition held in Marrakesh in 2023, Idrissi recalled Ningbo's captivating scenery, saying it "left a lasting impression".
Ningbo and Marrakesh established friendly exchange relations in 2007 – fostering productive exchanges in culture, tourism and business over the past two decades.
Looking ahead, Idrissi expressed interest in advancing projects in the fields of green ports, smart cities and cultural tourism, to further deepen ties between the cities.
Idrissi also encouraged Ningbo's residents and entrepreneurs to visit Morocco – highlighting its visa-free entry for Chinese citizens, diverse landscape and investment potential.
Marrakesh, a top African tourist destination, offers direct flights to over 40 major cities – making it an accessible hub for global trade and travel.
