From fear to champion: Daniel's story

Syrian boy Daniel, who grew up in Beilun district, Ningbo, faces his fear of water in the latest season of his documentary, Daniel's World Map.

In this episode, Daniel visits Ningbo Zhoushan Port's Chuanshan port area with local officials. There, he examines a map illustrating how the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road connects ports around the world and observes containers packed with goods from across China, ready to be shipped globally.

He then boards a ship and meets a Montenegrin captain who shares stories about long voyages — from France to Charleston, then Savannah — and the challenges sailors encounter at sea. Inspired by the captain, Daniel finally overcomes his fear, jumps into the water, learns to swim, and even wins a swimming championship.
