A Danish entrepreneur's 15-year Ningbo journey was formally recognized this month, highlighting how the city has become a true home for long-term international business builders.

Brian Vogt, general manager of RMG Steel Products (Ningbo) Co, received the Ningbo Municipal Government's Camellia Award on Jan 19, an honor for individuals who make outstanding contributions to the city's development.

Vogt arrived in Ningbo in 2009 and set up RMG Steel the following year in the Nordic Industrial Park in Zhenhai district. Starting with fewer than 10 employees, the company has expanded to nearly 300 staff and now reports annual revenue of more than 300 million yuan ($43.07 million). Yet for Vogt, the bigger change happened outside the factory gates.

Over the years, his children grew up in Ningbo, daily life took root, and even the family dog moved. Friends say he often describes returning to Ningbo as naturally as returning to Denmark, suggesting that the city has become part of his identity.

He also believes Ningbo offers an open environment, convenient transportation, a rich food culture, and a strong sense of security. Inside the company, he promotes a family-style culture built on mutual respect and shared growth.

Vogt plans to continue building his life and career in Ningbo while expanding cooperation at home and abroad, seeing the city not as a stopover, but as a lasting destination.
