Zhejiang province exported more than 50 billion yuan ($7.38 billion) worth of children's clothing, socks, shoes, and related products in the first four months of this year, accounting for 20 percent of China's total exports in the category, customs data showed.

The province has built strong industrial clusters around children's products. In Huzhou, two out of every three children's garments produced in China are made locally, with products exported to 167 countries and regions.

In Zhuji, a major hosiery hub, Zhuji Yorun Socks Industry Co has used a mature local supply chain to handle contract manufacturing for well-known maternity and baby brands while developing its own labels. Its newborn socks, mosquito-repellent children's socks, and soft-soled toddler socks have sold well overseas, with exports approaching 14 million yuan in the first four months.

In Ningbo, Ningbo Global Toys for Sweets Co combines candy with creative toys. The company has focused this year on upgraded packaging and safer formulas, with several international safety certifications supporting overseas sales.

Orders have been booked through September, and the company's annual output value is expected to grow by about 25 percent, said Zhang You, general manager of the company.
