Hangzhou and Ningbo have launched a reciprocal tourism discount program, giving residents of the two cities cheaper access to major attractions.

Running from Sept 1 to March 31, 2027, the program is the first initiative under a new partnership linking Hangzhou's Xixi Wetland with Ningbo's Xikou and Xuedou Mountain scenic area.

Ningbo residents can visit Xixi Wetland in Hangzhou for 40 yuan ($5.95), half the regular admission price, or buy a combined ticket covering the wetland and a boat ride for 90 yuan, compared with the regular 140 yuan.

Hangzhou residents visiting Ningbo can buy a full ticket to Xikou, including transportation to Xuedou Mountain, for 120 yuan, down from 210 yuan. Tickets to the Maitreya Holy Altar are available for 30 yuan, half the regular price.

Discounted hotel stays are also available in both cities.

The two destinations are also offering a joint ticket for visitors from anywhere in China, covering both Xixi Wetland and Xikou for 260 yuan, compared with a combined regular price of 350 yuan.

The partnership aims to encourage two-way tourism between the cities, with plans including joint tourism promotions, road-trip itineraries, and connected itineraries for international visitors.
