Polish academician highlights China's long-term commitment to research

Long-term commitment and stable investment are essential to scientific progress, said Jerzy Duszynski, a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, at the 2026 China-CEEC Conference on Innovation Cooperation in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, on Sept 9.

Duszynski praised China's sustained support for scientific research, saying this stability gives researchers a favorable environment to pursue long-term goals.

He also called for closer integration of basic research and application, noting that fundamental science provides the foundation for innovation, while practical applications help sustain support for basic research.

Duszynski highlighted new possibilities for China-Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) collaboration, including virtual research institutions and AI-enabled distributed research networks. Such models could connect researchers across borders and make better use of the strong talent pools on both sides.

He stressed that trust is the foundation of win-win cooperation and can be strengthened through face-to-face exchanges.

At the end of his speech, Duszynski displayed his email address on the presentation screen, extending an open invitation for future collaboration.

"We open our arms and look forward to cooperation," he added.
