A cross-Straits folk art exchange activity was held in an ancient village in Xiepu town, Zhenhai district, Ningbo, Zhejiang province on June 7, the day marking the Dragon Boat Festival this year.

Visitors and local residents got to enjoy cultural displays and performances – paintings, calligraphy, dancing and other things – as well as other traditional Chinese folk art such as paper-cuts and Zhongguojie, or decorative Chinese knots.

Mouthwatering cross-Straits local delicacies were displayed and sold. Taiwan guests also performed their tea ceremony, and made Zongzi, a special rice dumpling eaten at the Dragon Boat Festival, with local residents.

"We hope to promote Taiwan's folk culture and customs through the art exchange and increase mutual understanding between cross-Straits residents," said a spokesman from Kaohsiung.
