An important conference about smart manufacturing was held in Ningbo in Zhejiang province on June 19, as a key part of Ningbo-Shaoxing Week which runs from June 17 to 22.

More than 500 company representatives, experts and academics from Ningbo and Shaoxing attended the meeting. 

Shaoxing officials said that their key traditional industries had realized an intelligent transformation. Half of the companies above the designated scale – a term referring to companies with annual revenue of more than 20 million yuan ($2.91 million) – are now equipped with intelligent technologies.

The Shaoxing side also announced a three-year plan at the meeting, to help 777 of its companies above the designated scale in 13 traditional industries achieve intelligent transformation.

A representative from Youngor, a clothing manufacturer based in Ningbo, also gave a briefing on his company's experiences in smart manufacturing.

Ten companies and schools signed agreements worth more than 100 million yuan with Shaoxing enterprises in intelligent technology related projects. 

"Ningbo leads the nation in smart manufacturing," said Shao Quanmao, vice mayor of Shaoxing. 

"We hope that the business cooperation between Shaoxing and Ningbo will help the two cities build a world-class manufacturing industrial cluster."
