Ningbo's gross domestic product (GDP) totaled 541.72 billion yuan ($80.85 billion) in the first half of 2019, ranking 15th among Chinese cities, according to statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics.

The figure represents an uptick of 6.5 percent year-on-year, 0.2 percentage points faster than the national average recorded over the period.

China's GDP expanded 6.3 percent to 45.0933 trillion yuan from January to June.

Shanghai, registering a GDP of 1.64 trillion yuan in the first half of this year, topped the list, followed by Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Tianjin.

In addition to Ningbo, Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, ranked 10th nationwide, with an economic output of 694.91 billion yuan over the period.
