Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province will hold a series of cultural and art activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, local media reported.

In the run-up to the activities, which are being organized by the Ningbo Municipal Federation of Literary and Art Circles, an exhibition of paintings, photos and calligraphy works opened at the Ningbo Gallery on Aug 25.

The exhibition, slated to run until Sept 8, will feature 186 works by 46 local artists, 70 calligraphers and 70 photographers. The works will showcase the changes which Ningbo has undergone over the past 70 years.

A hundred portraits of famous artists by Ningbo-born Luo Jianghua will be donated to the Ningbo Art Center of the China Photographers Association after the exhibition concludes.

In addition to the exhibition, other activities, including concerts and poetry recitals, will be also staged in the city in the coming days.
