Ningbo in Zhejiang province is taking a raft of new measures to recruit manufacturing sector employees from home and abroad, a spokesman from the Ningbo Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau said on Sept 19.

He said the city would integrate its recruiting drives and build a youth-friendly city, with the focus on hosting promotional events, fine-tuning incentive policies and offering services platforms.

The city will ramp up its efforts to attract top staff from abroad engaged in the high-end equipment, automobile parts and new materials industries.

Training programs will be launched to fill the city's shortage of high-tech professionals with industrial network or smart manufacturing know-how.

The city will explore a new model for training manufacturing and engineering personnel.

Under it, companies, institutes, universities and industry alliances will serve as training bases for manufacturing all-rounders who adopt innovative ways of thinking.

The city will share its human resources with Shanghai and Hangzhou and seek more cooperation with cities in the Yangtze River Delta region. Young people and skilled professionals will be encouraged to find a job or start a business in Ningbo.

Officials said the new measures were put together by the Ningbo Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, based on their recent survey covering 1,140 local companies.

They added that the survey and measures can provide participants of the 2019 Ningbo Talent, Science and Technology Week with basic knowledge about Ningbo's job market.
