Ningbo in Zhejiang province is building a diverse and high-powered workforce in the field of technology, with the launch of a project to build the Zhejiang Innovation Center on Sept 20.

Located in eastern Ningbo’s Jingzhou district, Zhejiang Innovation Center has a planned area of 1.2 square kilometers, including an office area of 500,000 square meters.

The provincial center for innovation and incubation is expected to be a “free harbor for talent” and welcome startup companies and new projects from Zhejiang province and the Yangtze River Delta region.

It will offer a shared innovation and entrepreneurial community for companies, featuring one-stop services covering enterprise registration, financial support, recruitment and business management.

Companies will also have access to various talent pools, research facilities, legal counsel, IP agencies and other service providers.

Officials said that companies headquartered in other cities don't have to re-register before moving in and can continue to enjoy the preferential policies granted by the city wherever they were registered. However, they will still be eligible for all the policies and conveniences that Ningbo has to offer.

As a core part of the city’s Eastern New Town, the innovation center will boast strong development potential, a full set of fundamental facilities, a good living environment and short distances to airports and train stations.

Officials said the launch of Zhejiang Innovation Center is a main event of the ongoing 2019 Ningbo Talent, Science and Technology Week which started on Sept 20 and will conclude on Sept 26.
