Ningbo has approved new guidelines on boosting innovation and entrepreneurship in the city amid efforts to bolster industrial transformation and upgrading.

The guidelines were approved at a government meeting chaired by Mayor Qiu Dongyao on Oct 28.

According to the document, Ningbo aims to increase the added value of core industries of the digital economy to 120 billion yuan ($17.9 billion) by 2022.

By that time, it also aims to foster 15,000 innovation-driven start-ups and 3,200 high-tech enterprises with technology trading volume totaling 15 billion yuan.

Meanwhile, the city will make more efforts to standardize public data management, an important measure to speed up the digital transformation and modernization of the government.

Public data management should focus on overall planning, intensive construction and on-demand sharing, according to the meeting.

More efforts were urged to explore and apply advanced technologies such as blockchain so as to promote the sustained and healthy development of public data management.
