Construction began on a high-speed railway linking the cities of Ningbo and Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang province on Oct 29.

The railway, with its 11 stations, is expected to be completed in four years. At a maximum speed of 200 kph, it will slash the travel time between the two cities to one hour and 29 minutes.

The railway is being jointly built by China State Railway Group Co and the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government. After completion, China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group Co will be responsible for its operation and management.

The railway will help to integrate the Yangtze River Delta, as it is set to boost interconnectivity between China's small commodities hub Yiwu and China's busiest port – Ningbo Zhoushan port.

It will also more closely connect Ningbo and all of Zhejiang province with the country's high-speed railway network and help bolster the Belt and Road Initiative.
