Ningbo entrepreneur wins gold award in national contest

The China Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition concluded in Qingdao, East China's Shandong province on Nov 4.

The blue crab breeding project entitled Xiedaren by Chen Zhong, a young entrepreneur from Ninghai county in Ningbo, stood out from  310 entries and took home the top prize.

The contest, now in its sixth year, was jointly sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Young League, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

According to the organizing committee, contest winners will be eligible to receive support in financing and incubation.

Chen registered his Xiedaren brand in 2013, and it has now developed into a renowned brand of aquatic products in Ningbo.

Currently, Chen's breeding base houses more than 12,000 blue crabs which sell throughout the year.

Since its inception in 2014, the contest has garnered the participation of more than two million young people.
