Ningbo launched a promotional conference in Shanghai on Aug 25 to promote the 2020 Maritime Silk Road Culture and Travel Expo, which is slated to be held in the city from Sept 25 to 27.

The expo, jointly sponsored by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Publicity, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and Ningbo Municipal People's Government, will combine the China (Ningbo) Characteristic Culture Industry Expo and Ningbo International Tourism Expo from this year.

It is set to cover an area of 30,000 square meters and is expected to attract 10,000 exhibitors from across the world.

An online exhibition platform will be held simultaneously, which will see internet influencers promote goods via live stream.

In addition, a series of activities including a night market showcasing local culture and creative products and a food fiesta featuring local traditional cuisine will also be held on the sidelines of the expo.

To promote the event, light shows will be staged in the cities of Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo. On the evening of Aug 25, a slogan reading "Come to the Ningbo culture and travel expo on Sept 25" appeared on the Citibank Tower in Shanghai.

On the same day, Ningbo also initiated a campaign to promote tourism in the city, targeting visitors from the Yangtze River Delta, a region encompassing the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui and Shanghai municipality.

Tourists from the cities of Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, and Wuhu in the delta have accounted for 90 percent of tourists to Ningbo since April, especially after cross-province travel resumed last month.

Tourism promotion conferences will also be launched in Nanjing, Wuxi and Hefei in the coming days, said a head official from the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism.
