Ningbo is strengthening its role as a major gateway for China's new energy vehicle (NEV) exports, with overseas shipments surging in the first seven months of 2026.

According to Ningbo Customs, the Ningbo port recorded vehicle exports worth 36.96 billion yuan ($5.48 billion) from January to July, up 68.01 percent year-on-year, with the number of vehicles reaching 368,800 units, an increase of 72.99 percent. NEVs accounted for the lion's share at 30.03 billion yuan, soaring 98.55 percent, while the number of exported units more than doubled to 263,500, up 103.3 percent.

China's smart, green and cost-effective NEVs are gaining traction in overseas markets. Brazil, the European Union, and the United Arab Emirates remained the top three destinations by export value, while emerging markets such as Jordan and ASEAN countries also recorded strong growth.

To support exporters, Ningbo Customs has introduced one-stop supervision and streamlined procedures, including "direct loading upon arrival" services, helping reduce customs clearance and logistics costs.

Meanwhile, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port continues to expand its international shipping network. A new roll-on/roll-off route connecting Ningbo with Italy and Spain was launched this month, further strengthening logistics links for Chinese automakers seeking to tap global markets.
