High-tech industries gain traction in Daxie Development Zone
The added value of high-tech sectors in Daxie Development Zone in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province reached 10.87 billion yuan ($1.67 billion) in 2020, up 37.5 percent year-on-year, official data show.
It is the first time that the added value of high-tech industries in the State-level development zone exceeded 10 billion yuan.
In recent years, local authorities have rolled out a three-year action plan to foster high-tech enterprises. To date, a total of 16 high-tech companies have passed the certification.
One such example is Ningbo Unibono Appliance Co Ltd, which was certified last year to be a high-tech enterprise in the zone.
Unibono is a company engaged in the research and development, production, as well as sales of household electronics. The company's R&D spending stands at 5 million yuan annually. To date, it has developed 130 products and owns 133 patents.
Wanhua Chemicals (Ningbo) Co Ltd in the zone is another example. The company has acquired the capability to manufacture hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) derivatives, which will make China the fourth country in the world to master the technology after Germany, France, and Japan.
