The former residence of Dong Fureng, a prestigious Chinese economist, opened to the public in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on April 18.
Born in Ningbo in 1927, Dong graduated from Wuhan University in 1950 and received an associate doctorate from Moscow National Institute of Economics in 1957.
After returning to China, he served as the director of the institute of economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Dong's former residence is located on No 23 Xinma Road in Ningbo's Jiangbei district, which was his grandmother's house and where Dong was born. The building covers a total area of 285 square meters and consists of two floors.
A memorial exhibition showcasing Dong's photos and academic achievements in economics was also staged on the same day in the house.
In the future, economic forums and salons will be held in the venue regularly.
Dou Xiankang, president of Wuhan University, Li Jun, head of the publicity department of the CPC Ningbo Municipal Committee, as well as Chen Dongsheng, chairman of Taikang Insurance Group and chairman of the Dong Fureng Foundation, attended the plate-unveiling ceremony.
