Five scenic spots from Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province were recently included in a provincial campaign to boost tourism development.

The campaign initiated by Zhejiang in 2020 aims to develop a number of scenic spots which receive more than 10 million visitors annually or generate 100 million yuan ($15.38 million) in revenue.

The five scenic spots included in the campaign are Fangte Oriental Heritage, Laowaitan, Xikou-Tengtou Scenic Area, Ninghai Forest Hot Spring Scenic Area and Xiangshan Film and Television City.

Fangte Oriental Heritage

Fangte Oriental Heritage is a large theme park in the city where visitors can learn about Chinese civilization and experience cutting-edge technology.

In 2018, it was rated as a national 4A scenic spot, the second highest grade in the nation's grading system for scenic spots.

Laowaitan

Also a national 4A scenic spot, Laowaitan (the Old Bund) is situated on the north bank of the confluence of the Yaojiang River, Fenghua River, and Yongjiang River.

Known for its cobbled streets and bustling bars and restaurants, it is popular among foreigners and locals alike.

As a signature pedestrian street in downtown Ningbo, it was also included in the national pilot program for pedestrian street renovation and upgrading by the Ministry of Commerce last year.
