Ningbo residents will be exempt from admission fees to 82 major scenic attractions in Southwest China's Guizhou province starting from May 10.

The policy will be valid for 100 days until Aug 17, according to a notice recently released on the official website of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.

Guizhou has reached a strategic agreement with the provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Shandong, Guangdong, Liaoning as well as Shanghai and Chongqing to waive admission fees to 82 State-owned A level scenic spots for residents from the aforementioned places.

Located at an average altitude of about 1,100 meters, Guizhou is a great place to escape the summer heat in China as its average temperature is 23 degrees Celsius, according to official data.

The province is also known for its abundance of waterfalls due to its karst landform. Visitors can experience water sports or explore colorful karst caves in the region.

Qingyan Ancient Town, a national 5A scenic spot in the provincial capital of Guiyang, is another recommended destination. The ancient town, located 29 kilometers from the city center of Guiyang, is one of the province's four major ancient towns. It has a history of about 600 years and features exquisite buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911).
