The Pujiang Puyang River Wetland Park, located in Pujiang county, East China's Zhejiang province, recently passed an assessment conducted by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration to be officially named a national-level wetland park, bringing the total number of national wetland parks in the province to 13.

The Pujiang Puyang River Wetland Park occupies an area of 1290.62 hectares, of which the wetland proper makes up 41.59 percent.

The park has seen a noticeable improvement in ecology, as reflected by a remarkable increase in wildlife and botanic species, since it was included by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration on the list of pilot national wetland parks.

China established its first national wetland park-the Xixi Wetland Park in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province-in 2005.

The country is now home to 899 national wetland parks.
