Ningbo was highlighted in the government report delivered by Wang Hao, acting governor of Zhejiang province, during the sixth session of the 13th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress on Jan 17.

The city's accomplishments in 2021, including the establishment of two provincial laboratories and the robust development of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, were mentioned in the report.

Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group Co Ltd, the operator of the Ningbo Zhoushan Port, has become the first company from Zhejiang to win the China Quality Award, according to the report.

It stated that Ningbo Zhoushan Port has topped the global rankings in terms of cargo throughput for the 13th straight year and become the world's third port to have a container throughput of more than 30 million TEUs and the sixth largest refueling port worldwide.

The role of Ningbo as an economic engine in the province along with the provincial capital of Hangzhou, was also stressed in the report.

The city's transportation connectivity with its surrounding cities, including the island city of Zhoushan, will be further improved with the construction of a number of roads.

More support will be allocated to facilitate the development of the Ningbo section of the Zhejiang FTZ, Ningbo Zhoushan Port and the China-CEEC Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Zone, according to the document.

Synergy between Ningbo and Hangzhou, the main venue for the 19th Asian Games, will be enhanced to ensure the successful hosting of the Games.
