A transportation network stretching 464 kilometers is gradually taking shape in East China's Hangzhou, the host city of the 19th Asian Games, local media outlets reported.

The network is expected to increase interconnectivity between districts and counties administered by Hangzhou and ensure smooth traffic during the Asian Games in September.

According to the urban infrastructure construction department, a total of 29 expressways and 114 metro road reconstruction projects have been designed for the Asian Games, of which 22 expressways and 97 metro roads will be completed before the end of May.

Construction on a belt freeway located in the west of Hangzhou is currently in full swing. It is expected to significantly shorten travel time between downtown Hangzhou and western areas such as Linping district, Future Sci-Tech City, Yuhang district, and Hangzhou West Railway Station.

An expressway connecting Hangzhou's urban area and its southern corner of Xiaoshan district is also under construction. The road will offer convenient access to the Xiaoshan Linpu Gymnasium, the venue for judo, jujitsu and kurash competitions of the Hangzhou Asian Games.
