According to a list recently released by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), two scholars from Malaysia at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), Ningbo, Zhejiang province were awarded research funds.

Professor Alain Chong was awarded the 2021 Research Fund for International Young Scientists, while Professor David Phang was awarded the Research Fund for International Senior Scientists.

The research project submitted by Professor Alain Chong focuses on the data-sharing mechanism of electronic healthcare records (EHR). The key objective of the proposed project is to examine the factors that influence healthcare professionals' behavioral intention to adopt and use EHR.

Chong said he believes that during the pandemic, the low adoption rate of EHR needs to be paid more attention to. If the sharing of EHR between healthcare facilities and different countries can be realized, it will promote the development of medicine and overcome medical problems.

Professor David Phang's research project focuses on the integration of the physical and virtual world using AR technology.

Phang states that AR technology can attach online information and virtual objects to physical reality, so markets can use it to provide consumers with a better shopping experience, thereby stimulating the retail economy.

The funds aim to support outstanding international scholars who come to China to carry out research work, and promote long-term and stable academic cooperation and exchange between both Chinese and international academicians.
