May shows rebound in China civil aviation

A total of 257,100 passenger flights took off and landed from airports throughout China, significantly rising 44.58 percent month-on-month, National Business Daily reported on Thursday, quoting the latest data from Variflight.com.

Compared with April, six listed domestic airlines also saw their passenger amount rebound sharply in May. China Eastern Airlines crowned the highest recovery with 74.21 percent, followed by Juneyao Air (66.92 percent), Spring Airlines (58.34 percent), Hainan Airlines (56.48 percent), China Southern Airlines (52.35 percent) and Air China (36.10 percent).

Air cargo performance also rebounded in May. Statistics from Variflight.com showed the daily average of cargo flights rose 3.5 percent month-on-month. Both domestic and international flights increased.

SF Airlines held the top position in amount of cargo flights in the domestic air cargo market in May, accounting for 53.2 percent of total cargo flights, up nearly 2 percentage points from a month earlier. In international air cargo market, six Chinese airlines were among the top 10 in terms of cargo flight numbers.
