Consumption booms in Ningbo during National Day holiday

The sales of 50 monitored businesses, including shopping malls, supermarkets, car dealerships, hotels, and restaurants, in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province hit 1.2 billion yuan ($184.62 million) during the National Day holiday which ended on Oct 7.

The figure represented a yearly uptick of 11.5 percent, indicating a stable recovery in local consumption in the city, according to official data from the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Commerce.

During the seven-day period, the surveyed car dealerships in the city generated sales worth 178 million yuan, while the shopping malls monitored generated 275 million yuan in sales. Both increased 1.3 percent year-on-year.

The issuance of coupons during the holiday played a big part in the consumption boom.

From Sept 30 to Oct 3, nearly 30 million yuan worth of coupons were used by about one million residents in Ningbo whom spent 455 million yuan.
