A cargo plane operated by Kalitta Charters took off from New York, the United States and landed at Ningbo Lishe International Airport on Oct 30.
After arriving in Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province, the freighter was loaded with about 100 metric tons of commodities before flying to Incheon, South Korea and returning to New York.
The journey marked the opening of the first freight route in Ningbo under the Fifth Freedom Traffic Right, which allows the airline of one country to carry traffic from its home base to another country. The carrier will then drop off and pick up traffic destined for a third country.
The new route, which operates every Thursday and Saturday, will further extend Ningbo's reach in the international cargo aviation market.
Next, the city will deepen cooperation with countries involved in air cargo, and explore opportunities to launch more routes to Southeast Asia, Europe and even Africa, local aviation authorities said.
