Zhenhai port sets monthly record in cargo throughput

The cargo throughput of Zhenhai Port, an integral part of the Ningbo Zhoushan port, reached 5.54 million metric tons in October, a historical high for a single month.

The figure also represents a yearly uptick of 11.6 percent, official statistics show.

Efforts made by the port's operator to ensure stable operations in the fourth quarter despite negative factors including monsoons, heavy fogs and COVID- 19 have bolstered the double-digit growth rate.

Last month, the port handled 712,000 tons of sand and graves, up 12.1 percent year-on-year, while the throughput of coal and liquefied oil stood at 1.83 million tons and 1.27 million tons, rising by 11.9 percent and 30 percent, respectively.

Zhenhai port has set a target of handling 58 million tons of cargo in total this year.
