Ningbo authorizes over 60,000 patents Jan-Oct
A total of 62,107 patents were authorized in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province in the first 10 months of this year, up 12.8 percent year-on-year, official statistics from the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Market Supervision show.
The number of invention patents rose 25.7 percent year-on-year to 8,175, bringing the total number of valid invention patents owned by the city to 45,855 as of the end of October.
The proportion of invention patents to authorized patents in Ningbo was 13 percent in September, 1.1 percentage points higher than the same period last year.
From January to September, enterprises were granted 5,965 invention patents, accounting for 80.1 percent of the city's total, an uptick of 2.2 percentage points when compared with the same period in 2021.
The innovation capacity of scientific research institutions in Ningbo has also been enhanced. As of the end of September, research institutions from the city had been granted 512 invention patents this year, up 39.1 percent year-on-year.
The 71 industrial research institutes in Ningbo currently have 3,265 valid invention patents.
Steady growth was also seen in the number of patent applications in the city's key industries, including automobile and intelligent manufacturing. In the first three quarters of this year, 237 enterprises in the automobile industry obtained invention patents.
