A freight train loaded with 82 TEUs of solar panels from Shangrao, Jiangxi province, arrived at Beilun port in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 23.

The arrival of the goods, which will be transported overseas by sea, brought the number of containers handled via the sea-rail combined transport model at the port this year to more than 5 million TEUs.

The sea-rail combined transport model refers to the mechanism where goods are first loaded onto trains to Ningbo before being transported overseas by sea, and vice versa.

Beilun port, an integral part of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, the world's largest port by cargo throughput volume, has been continuously expanding its business by strengthening its links with inland cities via railways.

As of 5:00 pm on Oct 22, more than 1.2 million TEUs had been shipped via the sea-rail combined transport model at Ningbo Zhoushan Port this year. The amount was more than the total volume recorded in 2021 and represented a year-on-year uptick of 25.4 percent.
