Four county-level areas – Cixi, Yuyao, Ninghai and Xiangshan - in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province made the 2022 list of the top 100 counties (county-level cities) in China in terms of industrial strength, according to a recent report.

The report, compiled by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), measured the industrial competitiveness of county-level areas across the nation through empirical analysis and comparative study. It has been released annually since 2015.

CAICT is a scientific research institute directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The combined GDP of the 100 listed county-level areas amounted to 9.9 trillion yuan ($1.41 trillion) in 2021, accounting for nearly 10 percent of the nation's total, and their aggregate industrial added value totaled 4.5 trillion yuan, the report shows.

Cixi and Yuyao, two county-level cities in Ningbo, came in the 6th and 13th respectively on the list, becoming the top two ranked county-level areas from Zhejiang, while Ninghai county and Xiangshan county were placed 47th and 86th respectively.

Meanwhile, the four places also made the list of top 100 innovative counties (county-level cities) released by the CAICT, ranking 3rd, 6th, 34th and 50th respectively.

Five of the six districts under Ningbo's jurisdictions except Jiangbei made it to the top 100 industrial district list as well, with Beilun coming in the 12th and leading the pack in Zhejiang.
