The first volunteer store in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province opened to the public on International Volunteer Day, which falls on Dec 5 every year.

Located on Daqing South Road in Ningbo's Jiangbei district, the store will make available 5,000 packs of daily necessities, including rice, oil, and beef paste, on its shelf every month, and volunteers can exchange the goods with points earned through their voluntary contributions.

Zhou Kaibo, a resident in Jiangbei district, said that the tangible incentives will further motivate people to be involved in voluntary services.

By taking part in various voluntary activities over the past two years, Zhou has earned more than 300 points on We, an online volunteer platform launched by Ningbo.

In addition to going to the offline store, people can redeem points on We as well.
