Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province was recently listed among the first group of national green travel cities released by the Ministry of Transport and the National Development and Reform Commission.

Ningbo has in recent years made strides in improving its public transportation system.

The total length of subway lines in operation in Ningbo measured 186 kilometers as of December 2022, official statistics show.

The city has in the past three years opened 47 new bus lines, optimized more than 150 routes and launched 2,842 new energy buses.

About 1.3 million people – 76.7 percent of the total population in the city's central urban area - travel by public transportation on a daily basis, with the average travel speed during rush hours being around 18 km/h.
