Ningbo Port was rated as the 10th most efficient container port in the world, according to the new Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) launched by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence.

The report evaluated the operational efficiency of 348 container ports across the world based on factors, including the number and types of ships and elapsed time between when a ship reaches a port to its departure from the berth.

In addition to Ningbo Port, two other Chinese ports made the top 10 list. Shanghai's Yangshan Port moved up three slots year-on-year to become the world's most efficient port in 2022, while Guangzhou Port came in at seventh place.

According to Turloch Mooney, director of S&P Global Market Intelligence, the waiting time for ships at Yangshan Port has decreased by three hours per call in 2022 compared to 2021.

In the first half of this year, he added that Yangshan Port continued to build for the future by making sustained investments in automation and rail connectivity.

Powered by modern technologies, Yangshan Port handled 47.3 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2022, ranking first in the world for the 13th consecutive year.
