Chinese athletes win seven golds in Ningbo

Team China harvested seven golds of the beach volleyball and sailing events of the 19th Asian Games in Ningbo, Zhejiang province on Sept 27.
The sailing competition was held at the Ningbo Xiangshan Sailing Center from Sept 21 to 27. During the just-concluded competition, 129 sailors from 17 countries and regions competed for 14 gold medals, and the Chinese sailors finished with six golds and two silvers.
Eight other winners are from Thailand, Singapore, Japan and Malaysia.
On the same day, the final showdown of the women's beach volleyball event was held at the Ningbo Banbianshan Beach Volleyball Center.
Chinese player Xue Chen and Xia Xinyi defeated the Japanese pair Sayaka Mizoe and Miki Ishii in straight sets 21-11, 21-13 in the final. Their triumph helped the Chinese women's beach volleyball team maintained its sixth-straight win at the Asian Games.
In the women's bronze medal match, the Chinese group Wang Fan and Dong Jie secured a thrilling 2-0 win against their Thai peers.
The men's final is scheduled to be held on the afternoon of Sept 28. Abuduhalikejiang Mutailipu/Wu Jiaxin of China will go for the gold against Cherif Younousse Samba/Ahmed Tijan Janko of Qatar.
