Consumption booms in Ningbo over holiday

Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province experienced a remarkable surge in in-store consumption during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, which took place from Sept 29 to Oct 6.
According to statistics from the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Commerce, sales of 50 monitored businesses such as shopping malls, supermarkets, car dealerships, hotels, and restaurants reached a total of 1.38 billion yuan ($189.34 million) during the eight-day break.
The holiday period saw a significant increase in sales of bulk commodities, particularly household appliances and automobiles. The monitored sample companies reported sales of over 100 million yuan for household appliances, representing a year-on-year growth of 5.1 percent.
Additionally, sales of communication equipment like smartphones exceeded 23 million yuan, experiencing a substantial year-on-year growth of 52 percent. The monitored automobile sales companies also achieved sales of 159 million yuan during the holiday.
