12 Ningbo athletes to compete at Asian Para Games

Twelve athletes from Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province have been selected to represent China at the forthcoming Hangzhou Asian Para Games, as announced by the Ningbo Disabled Persons' Federation.

The Chinese sports delegation for the Asian Para Games comprises a total of 439 athletes - 221 males and 218 females.

Notable among them are the 12 athletes from Ningbo. These athletes are led by Paralympic champions Zhou Jiamin, Xu Jialing, Chen Yi, and Yao Zan, and will participate in five different events, including archery, swimming, table tennis, kayaking, and sitting volleyball.

Zhou Jiamin, an archer born in Ningbo's Fenghua district in February 1990, secured the compound bow mixed team championship and compound bow women's open class championship at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.

Xu Jialing, a swimmer from Zhenhai district, achieved outstanding results with one gold and two bronze medals at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.

Chen Yi, born in Ninghai County in February 2001, garnered one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals in swimming at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.

Yao Zan, a swimmer born in Cixi, a county-level city in Ningbo, in June 1997, clinched one gold and one bronze medal at the 2021 Tokyo Paralympic Games.
