A group of white swans were recently spotted wintering in Daorenshan Wetland, located in Xiangshan county, Ningbo. This is the first time that white swans have been observed in this wetland, showcasing the incredible biodiversity and natural splendor of the region.

White swans, which are classified as second-level protected animals in China, typically make their homes in reed-rich lakes, reservoirs, and ponds. Originally hailing from the frigid Siberian region, these swans are known for their migratory behavior. As temperatures drop, they embark on an extensive journey in search of warmer climates and abundant food sources. They often choose wintering grounds such as Sanmenxia in Henan, Shandong and other southern areas. During this time, they take advantage of the plentiful resources available before returning to their breeding grounds when spring arrives.

The presence of these magnificent white swans in Daorenshan Wetland speaks volumes about its emergence as a sanctuary for migratory birds. It not only highlights the wetland's ecological importance but also underscores the success of conservation efforts aimed at protecting the avian species.
