A total of nine companies in Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province have recently been recognized as national-level demonstration enterprises for green industrial design, bringing the city's total number of such companies to 14, according to the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology.
The selected companies operate in various sectors, including electric and electronic equipment, automobiles and accessories, and metallurgy. They represent 36 percent of Zhejiang's total and 8.9 percent of the nation's total.
To achieve the designation, companies must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the environmental impact their products have throughout their life cycle. This includes actively reducing resource consumption and minimizing the generation and emission of pollutants.
In addition to the nine selected enterprises, 27 more companies from Ningbo have been honored as national-level green factories, and three local companies have been acknowledged as green supply chain management enterprises.
Overall, Ningbo now boasts a total of 98 national-level green factories, 14 national-level green design demonstration enterprises, and 12 national-level green supply chain management enterprises. These achievements highlight the city's dedication to sustainable development and its ongoing efforts to reduce resource consumption and mitigate environmental impact.
