Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province has announced its bid to host the Asian Badminton Championships from 2024 to 2025, according to an announcement by the Chinese Badminton Association on Dec 5.
Having successfully organized the National Badminton Singles Championships in July, Ningbo has gained valuable experience in hosting top-level badminton events. If it wins the bid to host the Asian Badminton Championships, Ningbo's status as an international badminton destination will be further elevated, attracting attention from around the world.
The Badminton Asia Championships held in Dubai this year saw a significant improvement in the tournament's point system, reaching the 1,000-level, which attracted numerous top badminton players and resulted in a highly competitive field.
With the next edition set to take place in April of next year, the sporting event may serve as the final opportunity for athletes to accumulate Olympic qualifying points before the much-anticipated Paris Olympics. As a result, the tournament is expected to offer up some fierce competition.
