The State Administration for Market Regulation and Standardization Administration recently released a document outlining standardized guidelines for approximately 3,000 cross-border e-commerce overseas warehousing companies in China.
Ningbo Discovery International Logistics Co Ltd and Ningbo Hooya Imp. & Exp. Group Co Ltd, both based in Ningbo, participated in the development of these national regulations.
China's cross-border e-commerce import and export volume amounted to 1.7 trillion yuan ($236.94 billion) from January to September. This represents a year-on-year increase of 14.4 percent and accounts for 5.5 percent of the total goods traded in the country during the same period. China has established an extensive cross-border e-commerce supply chain, with nearly 3,000 overseas warehouses worldwide.
Ningbo in particular has emerged as a key player in the industry. The number of overseas warehouses operated by the city makes up one-ninth of the national total, while the area they cover constitutes one-sixth of the national figure. This remarkable achievement has solidified Ningbo's leading position within Zhejiang province.
Ningbo Discovery International Logistics Co Ltd, one of the companies involved in formulating the new standards, has ambitious plans to open three new warehouses in the United States by 2023. These warehouses will have a combined area of 55,000 square meters. By the end of November, the company had already witnessed a 57.7 percent increase in overseas warehouse revenue compared to the same period last year.
