Ningbo Zhoushan Port, located in East China's Zhejiang province, recently became the world's only port with dual container terminals capable of handling 10 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually. This remarkable achievement follows the completion of phase two of its Meishan Port Area on Dec 13.

As a crucial gateway for China's foreign trade, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has consistently dominated the global port industry, maintaining its status as the leading port in cargo throughput for 14 consecutive years. The port's Qushan Port Area and Meishan Port Area proudly house two 10-million-TEU container terminals.

Phase two of the Meishan Port Area includes two berths that can accommodate 200,000-ton container ships, as well as three berths designed for 150,000-ton vessels. It is designed to handle 4.3 million standard containers annually, with a shoreline length of 2,150 meters, and is capable of serving the world's largest container vessels. Seamlessly connecting with existing berths 1 to 5 in the Meishan Port Area, this new development forms a comprehensive berth cluster with a total shoreline length of 3,950 meters and an annual throughput capacity of 10 million standard containers.

On Dec 14, the Meishan Port Area achieved an extraordinary milestone by surpassing the 9 million TEU mark in container throughput for the first time since its inauguration. This accomplishment further solidifies Ningbo Zhoushan Port's position as a global leader in the maritime industry.
