Ningbo Lishe International Airport has achieved a remarkable milestone, surpassing expectations with a total of 95,500 takeoffs and landings and a record-breaking passenger throughput of 12.43 million as of Dec 16.
As the year comes to a close, the airport is poised to reach new historic highs, with projections indicating an annual passenger throughput of 12.8 million and a cargo throughput of 138,000 metric tons through 99,000 takeoffs and landings.
To cater to growing demand, the airport's route network has been expanding rapidly. This winter, the airport has introduced new domestic routes to Xiangxi, Wushan, Xiannvshan, and Yingkou, increasing the total number of destinations served to 88.
This year also marked the reopening of Terminal 1 at Ningbo Lishe International Airport, ushering in the era of "double terminals" in the city. The upgraded terminal boasts an 18-percent increase in design capacity, providing additional check-in and security counters, as well as a higher rate of boarding bridges. These enhancements have significantly improved the overall travel experience for passengers.
In addition to the surge in passenger traffic, the airport's air cargo transportation sector has experienced a rapid recovery. Currently operating 14 all-cargo flights, the airport has established an international cargo transportation network that spans Europe, America, and Asia. With a peak weekly flight volume of 50 flights, the airport is solidifying its position as a key player in the global cargo industry.
The spokesperson for Ningbo Lishe International Airport expressed the airport's commitment to further enhancing the domestic route network layout, expanding international routes, and continuously striving to create a new era in the development of a modern coastal metropolis gateway.
