Ningbo has recently unveiled a groundbreaking county-level road network layout plan that spans from 2022 to 2035.

The plan, the first of its kind in Zhejiang province, outlines a comprehensive network of 247 county roads covering a total distance of 3,671 kilometers, including 1,164 km of first-class highways, according to the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Transportation.

The implementation of the new plan will unfold in two phases. The initial phase, from 2022 to 2025, will include the construction of 189 km of new roads, along with the renovation and expansion of 101 km. The subsequent phase, from 2026 to 2035, will witness the addition of 582 km of new roads, as well as the renovation and expansion of 279 km.

The ambitious plan sets a target of establishing a modern county-level road network across Ningbo by 2035. By leveraging existing national and provincial road infrastructure, the initiative aims to ensure seamless connectivity for all scenic spots at A-level and higher, key agricultural and industrial parks, central villages, as well as passenger and freight transport hubs through an extensive network of county roads and high-grade highways.

In addition, the plan envisions that each township will be connected to at least three county roads or more, while city and county-level roadways will be upgraded to meet the standards of first-class highways.

The visionary initiative is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity and accessibility, thereby fostering economic growth and improving the overall quality of life for residents.
