Ningbo grants Zhejiang's first hydrogen refueling station license

Zhejiang's first hydrogen refueling station license was recently granted to a new energy company in Ningbo, marking a significant milestone in promoting green energy initiatives.

On March 18, the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau approved Zhongshi Ruiqing New Energy (Ningbo) Co Ltd's application for the license, paving the way for its subsidiary, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Hydrogen Refueling Station, to commence operations.

Built in 2021 with an investment of nearly 57 million yuan ($7.89 million), the hydrogen refueling station comprises a sub-station and a primary filling station. Positioned to meet the rising demand for emission-free transportation, the station will provide efficient hydrogen refueling services for fuel cell vehicles and wholesale hydrogen gas for various industrial applications.

Emphasizing hydrogen's environmental benefits, the station's manager underscores its zero emissions and renewable qualities, offering comparable refueling speeds to conventional gasoline. This makes hydrogen refueling particularly advantageous for applications within petrochemical industrial parks, logistics transportation, agricultural product distribution, and public transportation systems.

"The issuing of the license sets the stage for future advancements in planning, construction, and operation within the industry," said a manager of a local hydrogen energy company.

To enhance safety and operational standards, Ningbo has introduced guidelines which standardize training and assessment programs for industry personnel, ensuring the orderly and safe operation of hydrogen refueling stations.

The Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development will be committed to rigorous post-licensing management and the implementation of training and assessment programs for industry personnel.
