Wang Chang, an emerging badminton sensation from Ningbo, and his partner Liang Weikeng secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Badminton Asia Championships on April 11.

The Chinese duo claimed their berth by delivering a commanding performance, defeating the Japanese pair Ayato Endo and Yuta Takei with scores of 21-14 and 21-15 in the second round of the tournament, which is currently taking place at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center.

In the men's doubles category, another Chinese pair, Liu Yuchen and Ou Xueyi, advanced to the quarterfinals after triumphing over a Korean duo with scores of 21-16 and 22-20. However, it was unfortunate that He Jiting and Ren Xiangyu had to withdraw from the competition due to Ren's persistent waist injury.

The Chinese badminton team showcased their dominance as a total of 14 players or duos progressed to the next round. Notably, in the women's singles category, Chen Yufei, and in the men's singles, Shi Yuki, both secured victories with resounding 2-0 scores, solidifying their places in the quarterfinals.

This championship holds special significance for Wang Chang, marking his highly anticipated return to Ningbo since joining the national team. Reflecting on the event, Wang expressed his excitement, stating, "This is my first time playing at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center. It's also the venue's first international badminton tournament, so I'm thrilled. Another thing is the enthusiasm of Ningbo people."
